San Fratello (Horse)
Little is known about the ancestry of the San Fratello , although the breed is believed to have evolved from the ancient horses associated with the province of Messina in Sicily. They may have strong connections to the old Sicilian Horse, which is known to have been highly regarded, especially by the Greeks. It is also likely that in the past there have been infusions of Anglo-Arabian, Salerno (horse) and Hispano (horse) blood into the breed and, more recently, some Nonius and some English Thoroughbred blood. They are usually between 15 and 16 hands high and come in bay, black or dark brown. |
Sardinian (Horse) , also known as Sardinian Anglo-Arab
The Sardinian , or Sardinian Anglo-Arab, as it is also called, is an old breed that was established in Sardinia during the 15th century. Geographically, Sardinia is well situated for trade with North Africa, and has for centuries imported the North African Barb horses and Arabians, which would then subsequently be crossed with local stock. This formed the foundation for the breed, with a fixed type in the 15th century, and led to the formation of a stud of Spanish Horses by Ferdinand of Spain, near Abbasanta. The Sardinian comes in bay or brown and is around 15.2 hands high. |

Spanish Mustang
Spanish Mustangs , also called Colonial Spanish Horses, are of great historic importance. They descend from horses introduced from Spain during the age of the conquest of the Americas. They are a type that is mostly or wholly extinct now in Spain. [1]
Spanish Mustangs are sometimes confused with the American Mustang, feral horses descended from both Spanish horses and other feral horses escaped from various sources that currently run wild in protected areas of the American west, currently managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). However, the true Spanish Mustang differs from the "wild" American Mustang in appearance and ancestry.

Suffolk Punch
The Suffolk Punch is one of the breeds of draft horses. The Suffolk Punch has a powerful arching neck, strong upright shoulders, a short strong back, wide hipbones, and a high tail. Due to their extreme draftiness, the clean legs of the Suffolk Punch appear short. The Suffolk Punch has an average height of 16.1 hands, but many stallions stand 17 or more hands. It can weigh 1,700 to 2,000 pounds. All the animals of this breed are chestnut -colored, with shades ranging from light golden to dark brown. Traditionally the spelling was "Chesnut" and is still used today on the Suffolk Punch Society documentation. Some white markings occur, but they're less prominent than in other breeds. The Suffolk Punch is the emblem for Ipswich Town F.C.
The Suffolk Punch may possibly descend from the medieval “Great Horse” brought to England in 1066 by William the Conqueror. It was developed in eastern England's Norfolk and Suffolk counties for farm work. The Suffolk Punch is one of the oldest draft breeds, possibly dating back to 1506. To plough the heavy clay soil of Suffolk, the farmers needed a horse with power, stamina, health, longevity, and docility. Because the farmers used these horses on their land, they seldom had any to sell, which helped to keep the breed pure and unchanged. By its reputation for easy handling with power the name was also used for a British brand of lawn mower. |

The goal was to develop a heavier horse than the native Swedish horses. |

However, though pony-sized the breed is not a pony breed, it is a true horse in build and conformation. The breed is thought to be purely of originally of pure Arabian blood that was simply isolated and developed by its region.
Like the Arabian, the Syrian is hardy and frugal, able to survive on the poorest of nutrition. Built for the desert, it is uniquely adapted to the high temperatures of the climate, as well as the cold of the night. They are spirited and hot, with a noble presence, and may be gray or chestnut in color. Conformationally, they resemble their Arabian cousins, with fine, chiseled head, lean body, arched neck, and delecate limbs; however, they are generally considered to be slightly less attractive. |

The breed is rarely seen in any of the sport horse disciplines; however, they are good for trail riding because of their smooth gaits, stamina and easy temper, and are also seen in Western riding disciplines and in harness. Thoroughbred
The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known as a race horse. While carefully bred racehorses had existed throughout Europe for centuries prior to this time, the breed as it is known today developed during the 17th century in England when English mares began to be bred to imported Arabian stallions. This addition of verifiable Arabian blood coincided with the creation of the General Stud Book of England and the practice of official registering of horses. Today all modern Thoroughbreds trace to these imported stallions.
Some individuals mistakenly refer to a purebred horse of any breed as a "thoroughbred." However, this is incorrect usage. The Thoroughbred is a unique breed of horse. The proper term for any horse that is a pedigreed animal of a single breed is always " purebred".
